Wherever you are, rocks are beneath you. It's what the Earth is made of. And for 4.5 billion years rocks have kept energy safe and secure, in the form of heat.

We can dig deep to tap into this geothermal heat. But it's expensive and risky. But what if we could emulate what the Earth does naturally deep in the Crust by creating a thermal energy store near the surface?

Well now we can. We've invented Heat Vault to store high temperature energy in natural solid rocks underground. And also created Cold Vault which stores super cold thermal energy as artificial permafrost.

Our power grids are like the Tokyo underground at rush hour. We try to pack in more and more in real time (in fact people are also paid to do this). It floods the grid, lowers the energy price, destroys the economics, threatens asset owners and disincentivises renewables growth.

We don't need to do this. With ultra long duration energy storage we can time-shift energy, separate times of production from supply and optimize distribution. We can stabilize supply, end curtailment and provide a price floor for renewables with flexibility to sell either power or heating, whenever.
